A American Baseball League was an independent minor league, whose member teams were not associated using any Major League Baseball teams. It operated from either 1995 to 2002.

A league was founded inside 1994 by Portland businessman Bruce L. Engel. It began play within 1995, with a resulting teams:

Bend Bandits (Bend, Oregon) Grays Harbor Gulls (Grays Harbor, Washington) Surrey Glaciers (Surrey, British Columbia) Tri-City Posse comitatus (Kennewick, Pasco and Richland) Long Beach Barracuda (Long Beach, California) Palm Springs Suns (Palm Springs, California) Salinas Peppers (Salinas, California) Sonoma County Crushers (Rohnert Park, Sonoma County, California).

Long Beach won a initial league championship.

Inside 1996, Surrey left a league, & the Reno, Nevada Chukars were added. Long Beach won its 2nd sequentially title.

Inside 1997, the Palm Springs team decided to move to Oxnard, California, but sat out the season when it mass produced their move. A team added a Chico, California Heat. Chico won a league championship in their foremost year in the league.

Within 1998, a Salinas team disbanded, & a Oxnard team rejoined the league. A Sonoma County team won a league championship. A Grays Harbor team experienced suspended operations midway through a year, & the league took in top management of the team, which went on a long 68-game touring hike sustaining there are no page bowl.

Within 1999, a team disbanded the previous Grays Harbor team, & operated 6 teams for the year. Tri-City won a league championship for the month.

Within 2000, the league expanded to include Yuma, Arizona and Scottsdale, Arizona, which called itself a Valley Vipers. A Zion Pioneerzz won the league championship.

Around its final season of 2002, the American Baseball League operated sextuplet teams. In a Northern Section were the Chico Heat, Sonoma County Crushers, and a Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox. In a Southern Section were the Long Beach Breakers, Solano Steelheads, Yuma Bullfrogs. A Chico Heat won a league championship in the league's final year.
